Saint Etienne de la Cite church, Perigueux, Dordogne has a great concert of Handel and Scarlatti on Friday if you can tear yourself away from the Proms. | ||||||
Best live band |
Have had a bit of a problem finding very much this week...but the Commerce Cafe in Mezin are still putting on bands every weekend. On Friday they have the Visith Trio...think Bob Marley meets The Police. Book if you want pizza or watch from the bar. 0553970791 |

The
Mandala jazz club in Toulouse closes over the summer but they still run
their free acoustic evenings from 6pm every Thursday to Saturday nights
as long as the weather holds. Look at the Links page for
directions. |

Best major exhibition |
'Neofutur'
at the Abattoirs, the contemporary art gallery in Toulouse, is by turns
frustrating, amusing, thoughtprovoking and delightful, but definitely
worth seeing if you want to know what artists around the world are
doing these days. There's a great wrap-around video installation
against violence and war by Moscow artists' group AES brought from the
last Venice Biennale among a diversity of work in this beautiful
building. Open Wednesdays through Sundays from 11am to 7pm.
6€. No cafe. See site for map and metro. Toulouse contemporary art
